Itinerary

DAY 1

🕕 Meeting at 06:30 in Bucharest in the car park at Piața Victoriei (📍 Parcare Piata Victoriei on Google Maps), where the coach and the tour guide will be waiting for you. ⛪ Strehaia Monastery Built by Mihai Viteazul and rebuilt in 1645 at the order of Matei Basarab, Strehaia Monastery is a fortified edifice that 'witnessed' impressive battles in its time. Built of stone, the church of this monastery in the Mehedinți town of Strehaia has a peculiarity. Unlike all other Orthodox places of worship, which have their altar to the east, it is the only monastery in the country with the altar oriented to the south. According to legend, also recounted by Nicolae Iorga, Mihai Viteazul, who was born in Strehaia, built a first church, erecting it at night and, being incorrectly oriented, assembled the church with the altar to the south. Central Park in Turnu Severin The 'Tudor Vladimirescu' Park, known as the 'Central' Park of Drobeta Turnu Severin, was laid out in 1900. It lies between the Administrative Palace and the Teodor Costescu Palace of Culture. It is bounded by the streets: Traian to the north, Bd. Carol to the south, Teodor Costescu to the east and I.G. Bibicescu to the west. The Roman Castrum and Apollodorus of Damascus's Bridge – remains that recall the impressive construction built by the Romans over the Danube in the time of Trajan. The Museum of the Iron Gates Region – includes collections of archaeology, local history and sections dedicated to nature and the hydroelectric power station. The Central Park and the kinetic fountain – a promenade spot, where one of the best-known kinetic artesian fountains in Romania is located. The Medieval Fortress of Severinului – a restored fortification, important in the Middle Ages as a strategic point on the Danube. 🛏️ Accommodation at 3* hotel in Băile Herculane 🍽️ Dinner

DAY 2

🍽️ Breakfast Those who wish may remain on the hotel premises where they can relax by the pool or at the spa centre, and if not, we shall take a walk with the guide through the centre of the resort where the buildings are laden with history and have a special beauty and are built in Austrian baroque style. Situated in Piața Hercules, Pavilion 3 was erected in 1824 and hosted Emperor Francis I and his wife, Empress Carolina. In the Historic Centre area the statue of Hercules is also located, the son of Zeus and a mortal, Queen Alcmene. After the statue of Hercules we can notice the Stone Bridge, a historic monument built in 1865, and the Imperial Austrian Baths with a combination of Roman and baroque influences. 🛏️ Accommodation at 3* hotel in Băile Herculane 🍽️ Dinner

DAY 3

🍽️ Breakfast Iron Gates I Hydroelectric Power Station Museum It presents pieces of history and ethnography from the Iron Gates area, exhibits related to the construction of the hydroelectric power station on the Danube. In the museum folk costumes from the Iron Gates area and a water mill are on display. The museum visit concludes with a descent into the Turbine Hall, where the 6 Kaplan turbines can be admired. We shall continue with the last stop at the Christmas Market in Craiova, which this year has a theme inspired by the tale 'The Land of the Elves'. We shall also visit numerous wooden huts, where we can buy traditional products, gifts, Christmas decorations, as well as culinary preparations specific to the season, such as mulled wine, cozonac and other delicacies. In addition various activities for children will be organised, including rides on the little train, carousels and creative workshops.❄️⛄ 🚌Arrival in Bucharest in the course of the evening depending on traffic conditions.

🚌 Boarding

1.Coach seats are allocated starting from the 4th row, in the order the deposit is paid. For rows 1-3 an extra fee may be paid (specific to each trip).

🚭 No smoking (including e-cigarettes, vapes, IQOS) — not even with the window open
🍷 No alcohol for the whole duration of the journey
🍪 No food on the coach (seeds, crisps, etc.) — only drinks in containers with a lid are allowed
🎧 Audio only with headphones (no phone speakers)

📍 During the trip

2.The order of the visits may be changed by the guide without affecting the structure of the programme. Sights may be replaced with similar ones for objective reasons (roads, weather, etc).
3.Entrance fees for tourist sights and optional excursions are paid in local currency to the guide and may vary by season.
4.Guiding services in museums or cities may only be provided by local guides, paid on the spot.
5.For lost/stolen luggage, documents or personal belongings, the agency is not liable. Complaints are filed personally with the competent authorities.

6.The single supplement is paid at least 7 days before departure if the agency cannot find a room partner.
7.Children get a discount only when sharing a room with 2 adults.
