3-Day Tour - Christmas Markets in Iași, Suceava and Piatra Neamț

Itinerary

DAY 1

🕒 🚌Meeting at 06:00 in Bucharest, in the car park at Piața Victoriei, where the Autocarul Veseliei coach and the accompanying guide will be waiting for you. 🏛️Mărășești Mausoleum Our first stop will be at the Mărășești Mausoleum. This is a historic monument dedicated to the heroes of the First World War. The Mausoleum was erected on the site where, in the summer of 1917, the battles of Mărășești took place, which ended with the victory of the Romanian troops. 🙏 Vlădiceni Monastery This is an Orthodox place of worship and is located in a peaceful setting, on the outskirts of the city of Iași. According to local tradition, in 1415, Prince Alexandru cel Bun and Metropolitan Iosif Mușat met on the outskirts of Iași, at the place where Vlădiceni Monastery stands today, the procession that was carrying the relics of St. John the Great Martyr of Trapezunt from Cetatea Albă to Suceava, the then capital of Moldavia. 🏰Palace of Culture in Iași + walking tour of the city centre + Christmas Market Our next stop will be in Iași to visit the Palace of Culture. This is an emblematic building, constructed between 1906 and 1925 within the perimeter of the former mediaeval Moldavian princely court, on the site of the former princely palace. It is also a successful blend of several architectural styles: neo-Gothic, Romantic and neo-Baroque, and has strongly marked the architecture of the old capital of Moldavia. We will explore the cultural centre of the city of Iași on a delightful walking tour that offers a deep understanding of the rich heritage and evolution of the city, including its famous attractions such as the "Three Hierarchs" Monastery, the Metropolitan Cathedral of the "Meeting of the Lord", Dosoftei House/House with Arcades, and the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre. 🎄We continue the tour with a visit to the Christmas market. The event will include attractions such as stalls with traditional products, where we can taste various delicious dishes, or there will be stands with handicrafts, sweets, mulled wine and gifts; creative workshops for children; we will be able to admire the decorated Christmas tree in front of the Palace of Culture, the Ferris wheel, and also Santa's House. 🛏️Accommodation at Hotel Zimbru Iași 3*/similar

DAY 2

🍽️Breakfast 🙏 Saint Mina Monastery in Roșior This is a jewel of Old Rite Orthodox spirituality in Bucovina. Located in a picturesque landscape on the hills overlooking the Moldavia valley, the monastery offers pilgrims and visitors a refuge of peace and contemplation. 🙏 Cămârzani Monastery It was founded by the boyar Emanoil Mortun. The church that was built was dedicated to Saint George and was a place of worship only for the boyar family. Having become a skete after the Second World War and then reduced to the rank of a parish church, it was reopened in 1992 as a nuns' monastery. ⚔️Suceava Royal Fortress It was built at the end of the 14th century by Petru Mușat and was the main residence of the Moldavian princes for almost 200 years, today a national-level historic monument. The mediaeval architectural ensemble, consisting of castle and defensive walls, was consolidated and completed as part of a vast project with funding, restoring its imposing appearance, steeped in legend, but also the subtle princely splendour of the past. 🎄Free time at the Christmas Market in Suceava 🛏️Accommodation at Hotel MyContinental Suceava 3*/similar

DAY 3

🍽️Breakfast Piatra Neamț Cable Car After breakfast we will head to Piatra Neamț where we will take the cable car up Cozla Hill to admire the panorama of the city and spectacular views over the Ceahlău Mountains and Pietricica Rock. Walking tour of the city of Piatra Neamț + Christmas Market We will continue with a walking tour through the centre of Piatra Neamț where we will discover the Mediaeval Wall of the fortress built by Stephen the Great, Stephen's Tower, the Church of the "Nativity of St. John the Baptist", as well as old buildings with distinctive architecture. Stephen the Great's Tower in Piatra Neamț is a mediaeval construction erected in 1499 by Prince Stephen the Great. It is said that this tower was built in a single night, with the help of the faith and skill of Moldavian craftsmen. 🎄Finally, we will enjoy the festive atmosphere at the Christmas Market in Piatra Neamț. 🚌Arrival in Bucharest in the evening, depending on traffic conditions.
