9-Day Tour of China: Beijing & Shanghai

Itinerary

DAY 1

Flight from Bucharest to Beijing. The adventure starts in Bucharest, we depart from Henri Coanda Airport at 21:50 to Beijing with Turkish Airlines (Attention! The time may change depending on the airline).

DAY 2

Layover of 1 hour 50 min in Istanbul, Turkey and at 02:10 we continue to Beijing with Turkish Airlines (Attention! The time may change depending on the airline). Landing at 16:15 and transfer to Hotel Beijing Metropark Lido by IHG 4* /similar in Beijing. Check-in and Dinner

DAY 3

Beijing. After Breakfast we meet the local guide and head for a City Tour. We start our tour with Tiananmen Square, an urban square in the city centre. The square contains the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. Outside China, the square is best known for the Tiananmen Square Protests of 1989, which ended with an armed crackdown, also known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre. We continue to the Forbidden City, the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty—the years 1420 to 1912. It served as the residence of the emperors and their families, as well as the ceremonial and political centre of the Chinese government for nearly 500 years. We go shopping at City Pearl Factory. We end our tour with a dinner at Paradise Temple. Return to Hotel Beijing Metropark Lido by IHG 4* /similar in Beijing.

DAY 4

Great Wall of China. After breakfast we go to the Jade factory for shopping. After the Jade factory we head to the Great Wall of China at Juyong pass. The Wall is a strategic construction thousands of kilometres long, with a defensive role. The Wall was built to defend the border of the Chinese empire against attacks from nomadic peoples from northern China. It is a gigantic construction considered by volume to be the largest on the globe, with a length of 21,196.18 km. We continue to Beijing Olympic Park where we will also stop for photos. From here we also go to a local market for shopping. Dinner. Return to Hotel Beijing Metropark Lido by IHG 4* /similar in Beijing.

DAY 5

Shanghai. After breakfast we take a high-speed train (class 2) to Shanghai. Dinner. Check In and accommodation at Hotel Park Inn by Radisson 4*/similar in Shanghai.

DAY 6

Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Silk Factory, Nanjing, Bund & Oriental Pearl. After breakfast we go to the Jade Buddha Temple, a Buddhist temple in Shanghai. Built in 1882 with 2 Buddha statues brought to Shanghai from Myanmar. The temple now contains a much larger quantity of marble Buddhas, donated from Singapore. We head to Yuyuan Garden, an extensive Chinese garden located near the Temple of the City God. Yuyuan Garden covers an area of 20,000 square metres, but, despite its small size for a public estate, it has a multitude of attractions. We continue to the Silk factory for shopping. We also arrive at Nanjing Road, a road in Shanghai, whose eastern part is the main shopping district in Shanghai. It is one of the busiest shopping streets in the world, alongside Fifth Avenue, Oxford Street, Orchard Road, Takeshita Street and the Champs-Elysees. We continue our tour at the Bund, a waterfront area and protected historic district in central Shanghai. We also see from outside the Oriental Pearl Tower, a telecommunications tower in Shanghai with a height of 468 m with antenna and 342 m without antenna. Dinner. Accommodation at Hotel Park Inn by Radisson 4*/similar in Shanghai.

DAY 7

Zhujiajiao Water Town & Shanghai. After breakfast we go to Zhujiajiao water town, a canal town located on the outskirts of Shanghai. It was founded 1700 years ago, but remains with an age of 5000 years have also been found. 36 stone bridges cross the town's rivers and canals, along which many historic buildings have been preserved. We continue to the French Concession in Shanghai, a foreign concession in Shanghai from 1849 to 1946 and was progressively expanded between the late 19th century and early 20th century. The area covered by the former French concession in the 20th century was the premier residential and retail district of Shanghai, and was also the centre of Catholicism in Shanghai. Shopping stop. Dinner. Accommodation at Hotel Park Inn by Radisson 4*/similar in Shanghai.

DAY 8

Return to Bucharest. Breakfast. We go to the Airport where we also depart. We depart at 22:50 with Turkish Airlines.(November 2025 departure) We depart at 22:25 with Turkish Airlines.(September 2026 departure)

DAY 9

Arrival in Bucharest. Layover of 7 hours 45min in Istanbul. At 13:50 we depart for Bucharest and land at 14:10 at Henri Coanda Airport. (November 2025 departure) Layover of 5 hours 20min in Istanbul. At 10:45 we depart for Bucharest and land at 12:05 at Henri Coanda Airport. (September 2026 departure)

🚌 Boarding

  1. 1.Coach seats are allocated starting from the 4th row, in the order the deposit is paid. For rows 1-3 an extra fee may be paid (specific to each trip).

🚍 Coach rules

  • 🚭 No smoking (including e-cigarettes, vapes, IQOS) — not even with the window open
  • 🍷 No alcohol for the whole duration of the journey
  • 🍪 No food on the coach (seeds, crisps, etc.) — only drinks in containers with a lid are allowed

📍 During the trip

  1. 2.The order of the visits may be changed by the guide without affecting the structure of the programme. Sights may be replaced with similar ones for objective reasons (roads, weather, etc).
  2. 3.Entrance fees for tourist sights and optional excursions are paid in local currency to the guide and may vary by season.
  3. 4.Guiding services in museums or cities may only be provided by local guides, paid on the spot.
  4. 5.For lost/stolen luggage, documents or personal belongings, the agency is not liable. Complaints are filed personally with the competent authorities.

💰 Price details

  1. 6.The single supplement is paid at least 7 days before departure if the agency cannot find a room partner.
  2. 7.Children get a discount only when sharing a room with 2 adults.
