3-day tour to Băile Herculane for relaxation and thermal pool

Itinerary

DAY 1

🗓️ Period: 25–27.09.2026 🕖 Departure time: 06:30 📍 Meeting at 06:30 in Bucharest, in the car park in Piața Victoriei, where the coach will be waiting for you together with the accompanying guide. ⛪ Strehaia Monastery Built by Mihai Viteazul and rebuilt in 1645 by order of Matei Basarab, Strehaia Monastery is a fortified edifice that "witnessed" impressive battles in its time. Built of stone, the church of this monastery in the Mehedinți town of Strehaia presents a curiosity. Unlike all other Orthodox places of worship, which have their altar facing east, it is the only monastery in the country with the altar oriented to the south. Legend, also recounted by Nicolae Iorga, says that Mihai Viteazul, who was born in Strehaia, built a first church, raising it at night and, orienting himself wrongly, assembled the church with the altar to the south. 🛏️ Accommodation at Hotel Golden Spirit 3*/similar, where moments of relaxation and access to the thermal pool await you. For an extra charge, you can enjoy pampering services such as relaxation massage and sauna. 🍽️ Dinner with set menu

DAY 2

🍽️ Breakfast Those who wish can remain on the hotel premises where they can relax by the pool or at the spa centre, or alternatively we shall take a walk with the guide through the centre of the resort where the buildings are laden with history with a special beauty and are built in Austrian Baroque style. Situated in Piața Hercules, Pavilion 3 was erected in 1824 and hosted Emperor Francis I and his wife, Empress Carolina. In the Old Town area is also located the statue of Hercules, son of Zeus and a mortal, Queen Alcmene. Beyond the statue of Hercules we can note the Stone Bridge, a historical monument built in 1865, and the Austrian Imperial Baths with a combination of Roman and Baroque influences. 🛏️ Accommodation at Hotel Golden Spirit 3*/similar 🍽️ Dinner with set menu

DAY 3

🍽️ Breakfast Iron Gates I Hydroelectric Power Station Museum Presents pieces of history and ethnography from the Iron Gates area, exhibits related to the construction of the hydroelectric power station on the Danube. In the museum are displayed folk costumes from the Iron Gates area and a water mill. The museum tour concludes with a descent into the Turbine Hall, where the 6 Kaplan turbines can be admired. Central Park in Turnu Severin "Tudor Vladimirescu" Park, known as the "Central" Park of Drobeta Turnu Severin, was laid out in 1900. It is located between the Administrative Palace and the Teodor Costescu Palace of Culture. It is bounded by the streets: Traian to the north, Bd. Carol to the south, Teodor Costescu to the east and I.G. Bibicescu to the west. The Roman Castrum and the Bridge of Apollodorus of Damascus – vestiges recalling the impressive construction raised by the Romans over the Danube in the time of Trajan. Iron Gates Region Museum – includes collections of archaeology, local history and sections dedicated to nature and the hydroelectric power station. Central Park and the kinetic fountain – a promenade spot, where one of the best-known kinetic artesian fountains in Romania is located. Medieval Fortress of Severin – a rebuilt fortification, important in the Middle Ages as a strategic point on the Danube. 🚌Arrival in Bucharest in the course of the evening depending on traffic conditions.
