This event has its origins in the ancient customs of the community of Scheii Brașovului, with roots in Dacian traditions and pagan spring ceremonies that celebrated the rebirth of nature and the return of the sun. The event begins with a parade of the seven groups of juni, each with specific costumes and a well-established hierarchy. The groups are: Junii Tineri, Junii Bătrâni, Junii Curcani, Junii Dorobanți, Junii Roșiori, Junii Albiori and Junii Brașovecheni. These groups follow a picturesque route through the streets of the old centre of Brașov and the Schei area, accompanied by music, songs and traditional shouts. The Junii Brasovului Festival not only attracts residents of the town, but also tourists from across the country and from abroad, eager to experience this authentic event and admire the beauty of the traditional costumes and the vibrant spirit of local customs. Besides the spectacle of the horsemen, the festival includes craft fairs, folk music and tastings of traditional Romanian food, which offer the opportunity to discover local culture and gastronomy.
