Turkey Day in Istanbul: Complete 2026 Tour Guide
If you want a unique experience in Istanbul, celebrating Turkey Day on the Bosphorus is the perfect moment. In this article you will discover what our 5-day tour from October 2026 includes, which sights we visit, how the festive evening on the Bosphorus unfolds and for whom this adventure is recommended. We guide you step by step through the programme, prices and booking methods, so you can enjoy a memorable holiday in the metropolis that unites Europe and Asia.
What we visit
Our 5-day programme in Istanbul is designed to offer you a complete picture of the historic city and the festive atmosphere of Turkey Day. Here are the main sights we discover together:
- Bosphorus cruise – we admire the impressive panorama of the city, with Europe and Asia embracing on either side of the strait. Did you know that the Bosphorus is a strait between Europe and Asia that connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, with a length of approximately 30 km, a maximum width of 3,700 metres and a minimum of 700 metres?
- Sultanahmet Square and Hagia Sophia – we visit the Hagia Sophia mosque, created with elements of Byzantine art. Did you know that Hagia Sophia was completed in 537 AD, becoming the largest interior space in the world and among the first to use a fully pendentive dome?
- Cisterns – an ingenious masterpiece of Roman engineering. Did you know that the Basilica Cistern was built using 336 columns, many of them recovered from ruined temples and with sculpted capitals?
- Topkapi Palace – built on the orders of Ottoman Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror in 1459 and completed in 1478. Did you know that Topkapi Palace was the residence of the Ottoman sultans for approximately 400 years (1465-1856)?
- Buyukada Island – optional excursion on the Sea of Marmara, with a tour of the island by electric buggy and lunch.
- Florya Aquarium – a fascinating underwater paradise, where you will discover a world full of colours and wonderful creatures.
- Sapphire Tower – an impressive building with a stunning height from which the entire city can be seen.
- Dolmabahce Palace – the most imposing and luxurious residence of the sultans.
- Festive Turkey Day evening on the Bosphorus – festive dinner with drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and artistic programme with traditional Turkish and Romanian dances.
On the way to Istanbul, we stop at Veliko Tarnovo, the city known as 'The City of Tsars', which was the historic capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire.
