Saint Parascheva Pilgrimage 2 Days Iași | Luxuria Travel

If you dream of venerating the relics of Saint Parascheva and discovering the beauty of Iași in a peaceful and organised setting, this two-day tour is perfect for you. In October 2026, we invite you to join us on a memorable pilgrimage, during which we will visit the most important spiritual and cultural sites of the 'Capital of Moldavia'. You will have time for prayer at the Metropolitan Cathedral, discover Vlădiceni Monastery and explore the historic centre of Iași, from the Palace of Culture to Eminescu's Linden Tree. The tour includes comfortable transport, accommodation with breakfast and permanent assistance from our guide. Prepare yourself for an experience that combines faith with Romanian history and culture.

What we visit

Our tour begins with a stop at Vlădiceni Monastery, an Orthodox place of worship set in a peaceful location on the outskirts of Iași. According to local tradition, in the year 1415, Prince Alexandru cel Bun and Metropolitan Iosif Mușat greeted here the procession carrying the relics of Saint John the Great Martyr of Trapezunt from Cetatea Albă to Suceava. Did you know that the place where the monastery stands today was named 'Poiana Vlădicăi' precisely after this historic event? The present church was built between 1994 and 1999, dedicated to Saint John the Apostle and Evangelist.

Once in Iași, you will have free time to venerate the relics of Saint Parascheva, housed in the Metropolitan Cathedral 'The Meeting of the Lord'. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims gather in Iași every year on the second weekend of October to commemorate Saint Parascheva. Did you know that the relics were initially placed in the church of the 'Holy Three Hierarchs' Monastery in 1641, where they remained until 1888, when they were moved to the Metropolitan Cathedral?

On the second day, we will explore the cultural centre of Iași on a walking tour that includes:

  • Palace of Culture – Did you know that beneath the present Palace of Culture lie the traces of four or five centuries of history? On this site stood the oldest princely court in Iași, dating back to the time of Alexandru cel Bun. Legend has it that the palace was supposed to have 365 rooms, one for each day of the year.
  • 'Holy Three Hierarchs' Monastery – The monument's fame comes from the stone embroidery of its exterior walls: thirty ornamental bands evolve successively across the entire exterior space of the church walls. Here the relics of Saint Parascheva were housed for nearly two and a half centuries.
  • Dosoftei House/House with Arcades and Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre
  • Copou Park, where we will see Eminescu's Linden Tree – a silver linden approximately 540 years old, one of the most important monument trees in Romania. The linden exists today thanks to a rare biological phenomenon: several adventitious roots grew through the interior of the rotted trunk, penetrating into the ground.
