What we visit

Our programme begins with departure from Bucharest, from Piața Victoriei, at 06:00, with the Fun Coach and accompanying guide. We arrive at Golden Sands, where we check in at Hotel Arena Mar 4* and have free time for beach and relaxation, with all meals served on an All Inclusive basis. Did you know that the resort's name comes from an old legend which says that pirates buried a great treasure on the Black Sea cliff north of Varna, and nature took revenge by transforming the gold into splendid sand? Moreover, the Golden Sands Natural Park was declared a protected area as early as 1943.

On the second day, you have free time for beach, fun or walks, with the option of taking a Black Sea cruise (optional, at your choice). All meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – are included on an All Inclusive basis. On the last day, after breakfast and check-out, we head to Balchik, where we visit Queen Marie's Castle, the former summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania, built between 1925 and 1937. The castle combines Mediterranean and Oriental architectural styles, reflecting the refined tastes of the queen. Did you know that in the Stella Maris chapel a casket containing the queen's heart was placed in July 1938, which was moved in autumn 1940, after the surrender of Cadrilater to Bulgaria, to Bran Castle?

We also explore the Castle Gardens, a true botanical paradise spread across terraces descending to the Black Sea. Designed under the influence of Mediterranean and Oriental styles, the gardens include an impressive collection of exotic plants, cacti, roses and rare trees. Did you know that the Botanical Garden at Balchik is known worldwide for its unique collection of large cacti, being the second of its kind in Europe, after Monaco? Return to Bucharest is scheduled for the evening, depending on traffic conditions.
