Itinerary

DAY 1

⛪ Strehaia Monastery Built by Mihai Viteazul and rebuilt in 1645 on the orders of Matei Basarab, Strehaia Monastery is a fortified building that "witnessed" impressive battles in its time. Built of stone, the church of this monastery in the Mehedinți town of Strehaia has a peculiarity. Unlike all other Orthodox places of worship, which have their altar to the east, it is the only monastery in the country with the altar oriented to the south. Legend, also recounted by Nicolae Iorga, says that Mihai Viteazul, who was born in Strehaia, built a first church, erecting it at night and, orienting himself wrongly, assembled the church with the altar to the south. ⛴️ Danube Cruise An unforgettable experience! You will sail through impressive landscapes, crossing the Small Gorges and the Large Gorges, where the Danube narrows and is flanked by high rock walls. Along the way, we will admire the Statue of Decebal, the largest stone sculpture in Europe, a tribute to the great Dacian king. The cruise continues with a view of Mraconia Monastery, situated on the bank of the Danube, and exploration of the Veterani Grotto, a cave with a fascinating history, used in the past as a defence point. The final stop is Ponicova Cave, the largest cave in the Danube Gorge, accessible both from the water and from land, offering a captivating adventure in the heart of nature. 🛏️ Accommodation at Hotel Caraș 3*, Oravița / similar 🍽️ Dinner

DAY 2

🍽️ Breakfast 🚂 Semering of Banat It is the first mountain railway on Romanian territory and the most spectacular, inaugurated on 15 December 1863. It has 14 tunnels and 10 viaducts and a length of 33.4 km with a level difference of 338 m, from an altitude of 218 m (Oravița) to 558 m (Anina). It was declared Destination of the Year in 2021. 🏞️ Lake Buhui Situated near the town of Anina, Caraș-Severin county, it is a picturesque artificial lake, built in 1908 to supply water to the town and the mine in the area. Framed by deciduous and coniferous forests, the lake offers a peaceful atmosphere and a special natural beauty. Its clear water reflects the sky and the surrounding vegetation, and nearby is also Buhui Cave, one of the largest caves in Romania, which adds extra appeal to this destination. We will take a relaxing walk, on a forest road, 4 km each way (approximately one hour each way), which is why we recommend suitable footwear and a bottle of water. DAY 3

🍽️ Breakfast 🌊 Bigăr Waterfall It was one of the most spectacular and well-known waterfalls in Romania, renowned for its unique shape. The water of the Bigăr spring flowed over a moss-covered rock, forming a "curtain" of delicate droplets falling into the Miniș river. The waterfall is part of Cheile Nerei-Beusnița National Park, a place of remarkable natural beauty. Although the waterfall collapsed in 2021 due to natural causes, it remains a symbol of Romania's natural beauty and continues to attract visitors to the area for its picturesque landscapes. ⚙️ Water mills at Rudaria Rudaria, also known as Eftimie Murgu, in Caraș-Severin county, is a true jewel of peasant architecture. The water mills, driven by the force of the Rudaria river, have been used by locals since ancient times. The mills are arranged like strings of beads along the watercourse, over a length of three kilometres in and outside the village. The most remote from the village, and perhaps the most spectacular, is the Mill with Tunnel, because the water comes from under the rocks. 🚌 Arrival in Bucharest in the evening, depending on traffic conditions.

🚌 Boarding

1.Coach seats are allocated starting from the 4th row, in the order the deposit is paid. For rows 1-3 an extra fee may be paid (specific to each trip).

🍷 No alcohol for the whole duration of the journey
🍪 No food on the coach (seeds, crisps, etc.) — only drinks in containers with a lid are allowed

📍 During the trip

2.The order of the visits may be changed by the guide without affecting the structure of the programme. Sights may be replaced with similar ones for objective reasons (roads, weather, etc).
3.Entrance fees for tourist sights and optional excursions are paid in local currency to the guide and may vary by season.
4.Guiding services in museums or cities may only be provided by local guides, paid on the spot.
5.For lost/stolen luggage, documents or personal belongings, the agency is not liable. Complaints are filed personally with the competent authorities.

6.The single supplement is paid at least 7 days before departure if the agency cannot find a room partner.
7.Children get a discount only when sharing a room with 2 adults.
