DAY 1

🚌 Departure from Bucharest on the Bucharest - Ploiești - Ieud route. Along the way we enjoy beautiful scenery and the holiday atmosphere, and by evening we arrive in Maramureș, the place where Christmas traditions are preserved with devotion. 🛏️ Accommodation at Pensiunea Alexa / Dor De Maramu' 🍽️ Dinner

DAY 2

🍽️ Breakfast After breakfast, we set off on a heartfelt tour through Maramureș, where we will discover places full of faith, tradition and history. ⛪ Bârsana Monastery Bârsana Monastery, situated in the Iza Valley, is an icon of the Maramureș Orthodox Christian soul, a hope for a blessed future. It is a holy place where nature unites with the Church in a cosmic liturgy. ⛪ Merry Cemetery The cemetery is the life's work of the renowned sculptor, painter and folk poet Ion Stan Pătraș, continued by Dumitru Pop, one of Pătraș's pupils. The crosses are carved from oak wood, painted and versified by inlay. All the crosses are painted in a certain shade of blue, known as "Săpânța blue". Each cross has an epitaph written in short folk verses. ⛪ Săpânța-Peri Monastery The present Săpânța-Peri Monastery was founded in 1997, near the village of Săpânța, not far from the Tisa river. The construction was erected between 1998 and 2003, and at a height of 78 metres, the church of Săpânța-Peri Monastery is possibly the tallest wooden church in the world. The cross is 7 metres high and has been covered with 4 kg of gold, and the entire church is plated with 8.5 kg of gold. A few nuns live their days at this edifice. After the tour, we return to the guesthouse, where we all gather in the courtyard to experience an authentic Romanian tradition, in a warm atmosphere full of good cheer, for the preparation of the pig with traditional platters. Once the pig is prepared, we savour together the delicious pig pomana 🐖, whilst warming ourselves with hot țuică and mulled wine, flavoured with cinnamon and cloves 🍵. Against the background of the cheerful sounds of traditional Maramureș music, we let ourselves be caught up in circle dances and dances that warm the soul and bring joy. 🎶 When evening falls, we prepare to receive the carol singers, who will bring with them the magic of Christmas through songs full of tradition and meaning, lighting up the night with their joyful voices. 🎶🎁 🍽️ Dinner with dancing and good cheer! 🛏️ At Pensiunea Alexa / Dor De Maramu'

DAY 3

🍽️ Traditional breakfast On 25 December, the holy day of Christmas, we make our way with souls full of joy to church, where we will attend the service celebrating the Birth of the Lord. On this festive day, we pray and give thanks for peace, love and health, alongside family and community. ⛪ After the service, we head to "Viflaim," a traditional Christian custom in Maramureș. Here, we enjoy a lively re-enactment of the moment of Jesus's birth, staged by young people who play biblical characters. ✝️ The authentic costumes and solemn atmosphere remind us of the ancestral values and traditions that bring us closer to the essence of Christmas. This moment of communion between generations keeps alive our faith and customs, in a truly special celebration. 🍽️ Festive dinner, dancing and good cheer! 🛏️ At Pensiunea Alexa/ Dor De Maramu'

DAY 4

🍽️ Breakfast 🚂 Ride on the Mocănița One of the most important cultural and technical assets of the country, the Mocănița at Vișeu de Sus is the last steam-powered forestry railway in the world. Built as a favourable technical solution for transporting timber, the forestry railway still operates today, both for its initial role and for transporting tourists. !! Fare for the Mocănița ride during the festive period: Holiday Package. This includes the transport ticket, a hot drink and a pastry (doughnut). DAY 5

🍽️ Breakfast After breakfast, we say farewell to our hosts and set off for home. Along the route, we make a stop at one of the oldest treasures of the Iza Valley. 🛞 Mecles's Mill The oldest water mill in operation in the Iza Valley is located in Săcel. Dănilă Mecles's mill was built in 1850, by Jews. A number of 16 Jews held it in ownership until Dănilă's grandfather, their servant at the time, bought it. There were many who wanted it, but the Jews sold it only to him because they were satisfied with the work performed and the correctness of their servant. 🏙️ We head home, with a short stop for lunch. 🚌 Arrival in Bucharest during the evening, depending on traffic conditions.

🚌 Boarding

  1. 1.Coach seats are allocated starting from the 4th row, in the order the deposit is paid. For rows 1-3 an extra fee may be paid (specific to each trip).

🚍 Coach rules

  • 🚭 No smoking (including e-cigarettes, vapes, IQOS) — not even with the window open
  • 🍷 No alcohol for the whole duration of the journey
  • 🍪 No food on the coach (seeds, crisps, etc.) — only drinks in containers with a lid are allowed
  • 🎧 Audio only with headphones (no phone speakers)
  • 💺 Seat belt mandatory for the whole journey

📍 During the trip

  1. 2.The order of the visits may be changed by the guide without affecting the structure of the programme. Sights may be replaced with similar ones for objective reasons (roads, weather, etc).
  2. 3.Entrance fees for tourist sights and optional excursions are paid in local currency to the guide and may vary by season.
  3. 4.Guiding services in museums or cities may only be provided by local guides, paid on the spot.
  4. 5.For lost/stolen luggage, documents or personal belongings, the agency is not liable. Complaints are filed personally with the competent authorities.

  1. 6.The single supplement is paid at least 7 days before departure if the agency cannot find a room partner.
  2. 7.Children get a discount only when sharing a room with 2 adults.
  3. 8.For tourist packages and holidays in Romania we accept payment with Romanian holiday vouchers: Pluxee, Edenred and Up Romania.
